Teeth Whitening 101

Teeth Whitening 101

At The Private Dental Centre, we believe that investing in a little bit of self-care, especially at this time of year, shouldn’t be limited to hair, skin and nails!

A healthy, beautiful smile is a great asset and whether you have a big event coming up or just want an extra boost in confidence, our home teeth whitening treatments are the easiest thing to include in your daily routine to achieve a brighter smile.

How does it work?

Teeth whitening involves removing stains and discoloration that have built up over time on the enamel (outer) and dentine (inner) layers of your teeth.

The outer enamel layer is very thin and prone to stains from foods and drinks such as tea and coffee.

The whitening gel bonds to and breaks down the stain molecules which leave your teeth appearing whiter.

What does the treatment entail?

Your dentist will take an impression of your teeth to make a custom moulded tray.

To apply, pipe the whitening gel into the tray and wear it at home for the period recommended by your dentist, brushing off any excess gel from your gums with a soft toothbrush.

When you remove the trays, brush your teeth to remove any remaining gel and clean the trays using a soft toothbrush and warm water. Store in the provided case until the next use.

Does it hurt?

No. Our teeth whitening treatments are painless, comfortable and safe.

You may experience temporary tooth sensitivity, but this should go away after your treatment has finished.

How long does it take to whiten my teeth?

The length of your treatment will depend on your teeth and the desired result. Everyone’s teeth are different and therefore some will whiten faster than others.

Your dentist will recommend how long to wear your trays for, and regular check-ups will allow you to keep track of progress.

How much does it cost?

At The Private Dental Centre, our teeth whitening treatment costs £465.
